There is a continuous demand for getting enough electricity by the farmers in Gujarat. In many villages of the state, the farmers are not getting enough electricity supply, but when the complaints come up, based on the demand of the farmers, an important decision has been taken by the state government for irrigation in four districts of Saurashtra. It has been decided to provide 10 hours of electricity
Earlier, electricity was provided for 8 hours
- According to the decision made by the state government today, 10 hours of electricity has been allocated in Rajkot, Junagadh, Jamnagar and Porbandar districts.
- Before this, electricity was provided for 8 hours
- It was demanded by the farmers that the electricity supply hours should be increased
- Considering the representations made by the farmers, it has been decided to provide 10 hours of electricity
10 hours electricity supply started in Saurashtra
- There was a demand for more power supply in the area where groundnut cultivation is being done
- With this decision of the government, 10 hours of electricity has been started in Saurashtra
- At present, this decision has been taken only in Rajkot, Junagadh, Jamnagar and Porbandar districts
Decision at the end of submission of MLAs to save groundnut crop
- Farmers who planted groundnuts in large quantities in Saurashtra are in trouble due to heavy rains in the state for the last one week or so.
- The MLAs of the area had appealed to state power minister Kanubhai Desai to provide 10 hours of electricity to groundnut farmers for irrigation instead of eight hours a day.
- Accordingly, the state government has decided to provide 10 hours of electricity instead of 8 in four districts like Rajkot, Jamnagar, Junagadh and Porbandar of Saurashtra.
- 97.35% i.e. 83,32,072 hectares of the state's total average cultivated area of 85,58,815 hectares has been planted in the state during monsoon this time.
- Out of which 109% i.e. 19,10,863 hectares have been planted against the total groundnut cultivation area of the state of 17,51,450 hectares.
- It means that groundnuts have been planted in Gujarat this time but farmers are in trouble due to delayed rains, so the state government has decided to provide 10 hours of electricity instead of 8 to save the groundnut crop in four districts of Saurashtra.
- In Gujarat this time groundnut has been planted in a total area of 19,10,863 hectares in monsoon, in Saurashtra 14,66,400 hectares of land has been planted.
- Out of this groundnut has been planted in 2.68 lakh hectares in Rajkot, 1.82 lakh hectares in Jamnagar, 75,700 hectares in Porbandar and 2.11 lakh hectares in Junagadh.
